SMITH, Robert Mennie (Rab)
On June 7, 2026, peacefully at Dunedin Hospital, surrounded by family; aged 87 years.
Dearly loved husband of Pam, much loved Dad of David and wife Gillian, Gordon and partner Katrin, Jennifer and partner James, grandfather of Hannah, and Niamh, dear brother of Ella*, and Keith, brother-in-law of Easton*, Margaret, Stuart*, and Kate, uncle of Larainne, Easton, Andrew, Kenneth, Katherine, Nickie, and Keith* (*denotes deceased). Heartfelt thanks to Dr Matthew Hamilton for the wonderful care and kindness he showed to Robert, especially over this last year. Thank you also to the St John Ambulance staff, the team on Wards 7C and 8A at Dunedin Hospital, Dr Fought and the Otago Community Hospice, and Robert’s dedicated home care team. We deeply appreciate you all.
A service for Robert will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin, at 2pm on Monday, June 15, followed by private cremation. Messages can be left below where there is a link to view the service.
