Some families at the conclusion of the funeral decide to attend the crematorium as a final farewell.
Dukes Road Crematorium has the Kowhai Lounge that is a nice space to accompany your loved one to, and spend some quiet time to relax and let go. It is a place to say a final farewell. The committal or farewell can be formal or informal, time spent in silence or a few spoken words of release and goodbye.
Sometimes it is just nice to be part of the final journey.
Funeral services themselves are not usually held in the Kowhai Lounge, but in Gordon Road, Mosgiel, Hope and Sons have opened Chestnut Villa. A perfect setting for that private farewell, share some time and memories together, have a cuppa and then go to the local crematorium at Dukes Road, or leave it to Hopes to attend to the cremation for you.
As one of our funeral directors said "We arrange and organise the funeral, direct the funeral, and then attend to the final wish for cremation. We know that we can provide the best possible care from start to finish and we feel pretty good about that."
